Western Sector, CRPF has been sanctioned by MHA on 18/04/1991 at commercial capital of country i.e. Mumbai. Its extensive area of responsibility covers States of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa and UTs of Dadara Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu. Since its establishment, Western Sector has consistently demonstrated high level of competence, operational effectiveness and unwavering care for national integration and harmony.
Presently the vast and diverse area of responsibility of this Sector is; One Ops Range at Gadchiroli, Three Adm Ranges, Three Group Centres, Three Composite Hospitals, Six Executive & Two RAF Units as Operational Battalions, Thirteen Executive Adm Battalions, Two Mahila Executive Adm Battalions, AWS-VII, CWS-II and VIP Security Companies. The troops posted in these offices have performed their duties with great devotion and alertness even in extreme adverse situations. As a result, in the last few years, the influence zone of Naxalites in Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra has been steadily declining in terms of geographical coverage and number of violent incidents. During 2024, the Sector has actively and successfully contributed in completion of free and fair Parliamentary and Assembly elections not only in its AOR but also in the other parts of the country. In Gujarat also, our troops have made best and impartial efforts to maintain law and order during communal flare up and religious processions. The Sector plays vital role in celebration of Rastriya Ekta Diwas Parade at Kevadia, Gujarat. With a sense of empathy and gratitude, the Sector also takes good care of families of Martyrs and ex-servicemen of the Force residing in its AOR.
The various offices of Western Sector have also worked to protect, and to enhance our glorious cultural traditions and natural environment by adopting Civic Action Programmes, Tree Plantation Drive, Swachh Bharat Mission, Make in India, Skill India, Digital India, Team India and have promoted transparent and corruption free environment, quick decision making working atmosphere in true letter and spirit.
