Central Training College-Coimbatore, CRPF came into existence on 1st September, 1969 at Avadi (Tamilnadu); Between 1975 and 1997 the institution shifted to several places such as Neemuch(MP), Deoli (Raj), back to Avadi and finally to Coimbatore on 1st May 1997.
The Central Reserve Police Force was raised on 27th July 1939 as Crown Representative Police with just one battalion to quell the revolt against British India. Realising the importance of its continuance as powerful arms of the government and its unique characteristic of mini India, the Crown Representative Police had been re-christened as the Central Reserve Police in 1949 with the sole initiative of the then Dy. Prime Minister Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel. Now it is the world’s largest CAPF (Central Armed Police Force) with 225 Bn and over 3 lakh personnel serving day and night to safe guard and maintain the internal security of the Force with the mission. . . . .
The mission of CRPF shall be to enable the Government to maintain rule of law, Public order and Internal security effectively and efficiently, to preserve national integrity and promote social harmony and development by upholding supremacy of the constitution.
In performing these tasks with utmost regard for human dignity and freedom of the citizens of india, the force shall endeavour to achieve excellence in management of internal security and national calamities by placing service and loyality above self.
