It is a matter of great honour and pride for me to take over as the Inspector General of Srinagar Sector, one of the most prestigious sectors of the CRPF, Established in - 1990 for the operational responsibilty of full Valley and Leh &Ladakh and further for effective operational management its divided into Kashmir OPS Sector and Srinagar Sector. Srinagar Sector is effectively functioning w.e.f. 21st March -2005 and exercises Operational jurisdiction over two OPS Ranges , 22 -Battalions and 01-GC including 01-Mahila Dett. in the Distt. Of Srinagar, Gandarbal ,Budgam and Leh & Laddak and also Administrative control of 05 -Battalions in the different theatres.
The Srinagar Sector remains committed to maintain peace and tranquility in the Kashmir Valley under adverse geographical and climatic conditions. Counter Insurgency Operations are conducted in complete synergy with the State Police, Army and other security Forces resulting in several exemplary successes and achievements. Every year, we endeavour to provide full-proof security cover to all pilgrims and Yatri Convoy in Shri Amarnathji -Yatra , on the Baltal Axis.
The Valley QAT , equipped with special weaponries and well trained shoulders, specially operate in the urban area of the Kashmir Valley, is operated under this sector and played an vital role to maintain peace and untroubled quietude in the Kashmir Valley.
