The history of CTC(T&IT) goes back to October 1952 when Signal contingent of 112 personnel put through wireless training at " Adhoc Wireless Training Centre” Neemuch. In November 1954 ROG-III Course was run and in Feb’1955 standard test was conducted associating a representative from DCPW. In June 1970 vide Govt. of India, Ministry of Home Affairs letter No.O.IV-6/69-2-F(P)I dated 22/06/70 the Adhoc wireless training Centre was upgraded into Central Training College (Telecom) with the sanction of 2 posts of Gazetted Officers and 71 posts of various ranks. A new chapter was added in the history of CTC(T&IT) when it started functioning as a combined unit with Signal Group Centre on 4 August 1970 at Neemuch(MP). The increased sophistication and enhanced responsibility led the decision to move Signal Group Centre/ Central Training College (Telecom) from Neemuch(MP) to Ranchi (Jharkhand) during December 1986 in a independent campus and later in year-2006 SGC was disbanded and CTC(T&IT) started functioning as independent and premier training institute of the force to impart training on telecom & I.T. subjects.
Central Training College (T&IT) has come a very long way from its early beginning when only Basic courses for operator and technician were conducted. The college continue to be premier institute of CRPF and now imparting training to all categories viz. Radio Operators, Technicians, Radio fitters and Cipher Operators for their basic, upgrading , specialised and promotional courses. The scope of the training was further extended to train Gazetted Officers required for the signal set-up of CRPF. The SASI(Tech) Cum RM Grade-I being conducted by CTC(T) is recognized as equivalent to Diploma in Radio Engineering/ Electronics by the Govt. of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development (Deptt. Of Education) notification dated 22/03/1996.
To keep pace with modern technology and to promote computer awareness among the force personnel, this institute under took responsibility to run basic and network management computer courses for officers, ministerial staff and signal personnel at force level. For this purpose 04 state-of-the-art Computer Labs with terminal capacity of more than 100 are presently being used for giving practical training in a local area network.
Keeping pace with technology, a massive drive to modernize the CTC (T&IT) is under progress. Smart class rooms with interactive boards and multi media provisions are being arranged for all classrooms.
Modern class room with multimedia projectors, computers, visualiser, addressing system, smart board, internet connection etc.
A library is functioning at CTC(T&IT) where 3584 Nos technical and Non-Technical books are available.E-Library is functioning with 5 Pcs having Internet connection.
A research and development branch is functioning at CTC(T&IT) for new invention and development.
Trainee Officers’ Hostel with capacity of 23 rooms is available for officers.
Wi-fi is available for all trainees in the campus surrounding.
A Miniature Range is available at CTC(T&IT).
A well equipped Gym is available at CTC (T&IT).
Wet canteen is available for trainees for refreshment.
A subsidiary canteen is available for all personnel.
A photocopier and Stationary Shop are also working to facilitate the need of trainees as well as resident of these premises.
Indane Gas Agency is running in the campus.
One Precis cell is functioning at this institution with latest equipments where Precis of various courses are being prepared/ updated.
In addition to organizing outdoor training for various courses, Battle Obstacles and Assault Course is fully functional in this institution.
An ATM counter of SBI is functioning in the CTC(T&IT) premises
Nursery and KG classes are functional in Montessori School.Well furnished play room, multimedia room with a TV and DVD player, Computer, Xerox provided for children. Various activities like fancy dress, recitation, drawing and painting competitions and cultural programme are organized regularly.
Family welfare centre is functioning in the CTC(T &IT) premisesand a number of family welfare activities are being run from time to time.
