JOINING INSTRUCTIONS FOR VARIOUS COURSES THAT ARE BEING RUN AT RAF ACADEMY FOR PUBLIC ORDER (RAPO):

General:

RAF Academy for Public Order is located in outskirts of Meerut (U.P), close to Meerut-Dehradun Bypass road.

Meerut District falls in western part of the Uttar Pradesh. The city lies 80 km northeast of the national capital New Delhi, within the National Capital Region and 480 km west of the state capital Lucknow. The city is the largest producer of sports goods and is known as “Sports City of India”. Meerut has a monsoon influenced humid subtropical climate characterized by hot summers and cooler winters. Summers last from early April to late June and are extremely hot, with temperatures reaching 49 0C. The monsoon arrives in late June and continues till mid September. Dry winter season starts from November to middle of March with temperature dropping to 0 0C.

                                                Places of Interest in Meerut

  • Hastinapur  is a city in the Meerut district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Hastinapura, described in Hindu texts such as the Mahabharata and the Puranas as the capital of the Kuru Kingdom, is also mentioned in ancient Jain texts. Hastinapur is located on the right bank of the Ganga river and is at a distance of approximately 37 km from the city of Meerut.
  • The Augarnath Temple devoted to Lord Shiva.
  • The John’s Church located in Meerut was built between 1819-1821. It is the oldest church in Northern India. Sardhana church (Basilica of Our Lady of Graces)  is another tourist attraction located in Sardhna, Meerut.
  • The Suraj Kund sports market.
  • The Digambar Jain Temple is one of the oldest temples in Meerut and dates back to thousands of years,
  • The Shahid Smarak is devoted to the martyrs of India during the first war of freedom of India in 1857.
  • Parikshitgarh is also known as the ‘Qila Parikshitgarh’  was built by Parikshit, grandson of Arjuna.

Connectivity:

Railway Connectivity: Nearest prominent railway station is Meerut City Railway Station, which is approximately 11 Kms away from the institute.

Air Connectivity: IGI airport is the nearest airport from Meerut. Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi, is located approx. 90 km from the institute and the travel time is around 2hrs.

Road Connectivity: The city of Meerut is well connected through road network to the Delhi and other cities of Delhi NCR and also with major cities of neighbouring States.

Courses:

RAF Academy For Public Order conducts courses to train personnel to deal with issues related to law and order, Public Order Management, Gender Sensitization and Human Rights. Police personnel not only from India but also from other countries have been trained at this Academy. Personnel from Indian Army, Central armed police forces i.e. BSF, ITBP, Police personnel of various states have also been trained at this Academy. RAPO is the Nodal agency for meeting training needs of UN contingents.

 

Duration:

This institute conducts various courses whose duration varies from 01 week to 04 Weeks.

Basic joining instructions:

It is compulsory for all the trainees to report at this institution one day prior to the start of the training.

Uniform:

  1. Khaki and combat uniform as per the season.
  2. PT and sports dress for Physical training and games respectively.

 Dinning :

  Trainees will have to dine in the mess allotted to them. No food will be served    
  in the rooms/ barracks/accommodation area.

Classes :

   Indoor and outdoor classes will be conducted as per the requirement and
   schedule of the course. All the trainees must reach and attend all the classes as
   per the timetable.

 

Medical Facilities:

   MI room along with medical staff is functional at the institute. Unit Medical hospital is   
   available at 108 RAF which is approx 2 km from the   institute.

RTU:

               Trainee can be RTU due to following reasons –

                         a) On disciplinary ground

                         b) On medical ground

                         c) Absent from training/course for a period of 10% or above of the total course/
                             training duration.

Leave :

   Leave will not be granted to any trainee during the course, except in medical or extreme emergency cases.

Other Facilities :

   Kendriya Police Kalyan Bhandar (KPKB), wet Canteen and CLMS are available  
   inside the campus.

Mess advance:                                                                                                                     

   All the trainees reporting for any course of duration more than 2 weeks will have to deposit their mess advance at their respective mess in the institute.
