Sh. Anish Dayal Singh

Director General CRPF

Central Reserve Police Force is the oldest and largest Central Armed Police Force of India. It was the visionary leader and the first Home Minister of India, Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel who gave the Force its present name and laid its new foundation by an Act of Parliament in the year 1949. He also presented the President’s Colour to CRPF on 19th March 1950 thereby enriching it with a unique identity and a strong character to serve the nation.

Over the course of time, the Force developed specialized elite components that included the RAF (Rapid Action Force) for anti-riot and crowd control measures and CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action) to effectively tackle the menace of Left Wing Extremism. The Force is primarily deployed in the three most conflict-prone theatres of Jammu and Kashmir, the LWE affected States and the North-East region to neutralise disruptive elements and restore normalcy, thereby ushering in a sense of security and an ease of living.

CRPF is the most decorated Police Force in the country with 1976 gallantry medals bestowed upon it by a kind Nation. In the selfless service of the nation, the Force has also sacrificed 2198 bravehearts who cared for the lives of their fellow countrymen more than their own. We salute our Martyrs!

‘Nation First’ - is the enduring credo of the Force. In terms of its substance and spread, CRPF bears a pan-India character. With its personnel drawn from every stratum of our multi-dimensional society, the valiant Force represents the diverse yet unifying and alluring mosaic of a ‘Laghu Bharat’ and the idea of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat’.

CRPF is ever alive to the fast changing contours on the ‘Technology-horizon’. It has been leveraging cutting edge technology to upgrade its operational efficiency. The Force has also acquired the skill sets to customise its responses as per the dynamics of low intensity conflicts.

CRPF remains a people-centric organization, ever aspiring to be a slice of the common man’s life. While carrying out its mandate, it has simultaneously sought to bridge the gap that exists between the Force on the one hand and the people at large, including intellectual and technical communities on the other.

As the Director General of CRPF I feel humbled to lead a Force of the stature of CRPF which has always lived upto its motto of ‘Service and Loyalty” and proven its mettle time and again. We look forward to continue serving the people of this great Nation by gaining their trust and confidence at all times. Please feel free to contact us with your valuable suggestions to enable us to serve you better.
