It's a matter of immense honour and pride for me, to take over the command of the elite CoBRA Sector which is considered to be one of the most prestigious Sectors of the CRPF. The CoBRA Sector exercises control over the 10 CoBRA units deployed in the Left Wing Extremism/LWE-affected States of the country viz Chattisgarh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, West Bengal and Assam. In addition to the prime responsibility of exercising the administrative control over the CoBRA units, the Sector is also assigned the responsibility of Selection & Training of Officers/Personnel inducted in CoBRA and providing Logistical Support, for keeping the units well-equipped and battle-ready for undertaking the mandated operational task of tackling the Maoist menace.
The Officers and Personnel of CoBRA units have always brought laurels to the force, by their commendable courageous performance in the field. The valour and sacrifice of the force has been widely recognized by the Nation, through bestowing 05 Kirti Chakras, 18 Shaurya Chakras, 02 President's Police Medals for Gallantry and 344 Police Medals for Gallantry to the Officers and Personnel of the Elite Force. The CoBRA has always proved its mettle in upholding the Internal Security in the LWE affected areas, despite facing adverse geographical and climatic conditions.
