It is a matter of great pride and privilege for me to command Odisha Sector, CRPF which was raised in the year 2010 as an Operational Sector and upgraded as an independent Sector in the year 2012.
The State of Odisha has a total of 6 GD Battalions and 1 Cobra Battalion which is deployed in anti naxal operations and also deployed from time to time for maintaining law and order in the State.
Odisha Sector has a total of 10 Administrative/Operational Battalions deployed in Naxal affected areas of Odisha, Naxal affected areas of Chhattisgarh and disturbed areas of Manipur. The Sector also has 2 Operational Ranges, Range Sambalpur and Range Bhubaneswar.
Despite all the prevailing odds, the officers and men of the units of this Sector have displayed indomitable courage and bravery in maintaining peace and harmony in the area. We are working in close co-ordination with Odisha Police to intensify operations against Maoists to curb their activities. During anti-Maoist operations, brave CRPF jawans have sacrificed their lives and due to this Naxalism is on the verge of ending in Odisha today. We pay tribute to the brave soldiers and are moving towards eradicating it by 2026.
Redressal of grievances of the force personnel will be my top priority. All efforts will be made by Sector, Range, Group Centre and Combined Hospital to ensure that our personnel do not face any problem in the field and remain mentally healthy to deal with the challenges.
