Climate at Distt. Kannur is hot and humid throughout the Year.

BRIEF HISTORY OF RTC PERINGOME
Recruits Training Centre - 3 (renamed as RTC Peringome wef 01/08/2007) started functioning at Pallipuram Distt. Trivandrum on Adhoc basis with effect from 9thJune 1986 and was subsequently granted regular status wef 1stDecember 1986 vide Govt. of India, Ministry of Home Affairs letter No. O.IV-4/86-Org(CRPF)-FP-IV dated 22/10/1986. Since then institution was sharing accommodation and training area with GC CRPF Pallipuram till 31/07/2007.
Govt. of Kerala has allotted 275 acres of land free of cost for establishing RTC at Peringome, Distt. Kannur, Kerala which was taken over on December 28th 2000. The institution has completely shifted to Peringome, Distt. Kannur and started its full fledged functioning wef 1st August 2007.

TOPOGRAPHICAL HISTORY OF DISTRICT KANNUR
Kannur, also known by its anglicized name Cannanore. During British rule in India, Kannur was known as Cannanore, a name that is still in use by the Indian Railways. Kannur is the largest city of North Malabar region. Kannur is one of the million-plus urban agglomerations in India with a population of 1,642,892 in 2011. Kannur often known as "The crown of Kerala” because of its natural treasures is edged by the Western Ghats in the east, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts in the south, Lakshadweep Sea (Laccadive Sea) in the west and Kasargod in the north. Kannur is popularly known as "The city of Looms and Lores” because of the loom industries functioning in the district and ritualistic folk arts called Theyyam held in temples. Kannur has rich culture, history and traditions that are often connected with many scholars and legends from this region. Kannur is of great strategic military importance in India. TRAINING METHODOLOGY
