Zone North Eastern Sector

It gives me immense pleasure to introduce to you the North Eastern Sector of CRPF, head quartered at Shillong (Meghalaya). North Eastern Sector is one of the oldest Sectors of CRPF. This Sector came into existence in year 1976 as Sector-IV. It was re-christened as the North Eastern Sector in 1987. Since then the N E Sector supervises the deployment and operations in Lower Assam and Meghalaya in the North East. I have taken over as IG of the Sector on 03/04/2023 and feel privileged and proud of leading this Sector.

11 Bns of CRPF and 210 Cobra & 02 Ops Ranges (Range Guwahati & Ops Lower Assam, Bogaigaon) are deployed under Ops control of this Sector. IG, N E Sector exercises administrative control over 2 Ranges of CRPF i.e. Range Guwahati and Silchar, 2 Group Centres at Guwahati and Silchar, 10 Bns, AWS-III Guwahati. A Composite Hospital (CH) at Silchar with 50 beds serves the men and their families in this area.

The North Eastern Sector has proved itself continuously in the areas of operation and intelligence collection. Various achievements in the field speak highly of the professional competence of the units deployed in this area. Units under the Ops control of this Sector have been able to handle the various complicated situations effectively and peacefully in the recent past.

Civic action programmes undertaken by this Sector have helped to project the humane image of the uniform and has bridged the gap between the public and the forces in these areas.
