About Sector

(a) Sector Office :-

Sector office besides exercising normal Adm Control over the units, is assigned additional responsibilities on account of following:-
(i) Procurement of Sector stores, defense stores, special equipments, B.P. Vehicles for J&K based units and
(ii) Repairing of Vehicles in respect of J&K based units through Field Workshop.

(b) Ranges:-

Range offices having administrative/ops control of their respective office/units.

(c) Group Centres :-

Group Centre are performing housekeeping job in respect of affiliated units. The Group Centers are responsible for procurement & distribution of Sector Stores, defense stores, ECC etc to affiliated units.

(d) Arms Workshop (AWS):-

AWS-4 is functioning under Adm control of Group Centre Bantalab. The workshop carrying out repairs of Arms and Ammunitions, inspection and providing coverage to units deployed in Jammu & Punjab region.

(e) Field Workshop (FWS):-

FWS is catering the need of units deployed in J & K. The The workshop carrying out repairs of Vehicles and providing coverage to units deployed in Jammu region.

History

Due to serious terrorist activities in Punjab during 1987-88, this sector was initially set up in Chandigarh as an Ops sector for Punjab & Chandigarh with effect from 3.8.1989. After restoration of normalcy in Punjab and due to the emerging security scenario in Jammu & Kashmir especially in Jammu Region, it is shifted to Jammu on 10/09/1998 with operational jurisdiction over CRPF units deployed in Districts of Jammu Zone viz, Kathua, Jammu, Samba, Rajouri, Poonch, Udhampur, Doda, Reasi, Ramban and Kistwar. In order to streamline the functioning of Force, the Sector was declared as Administrative Sector for DIG Jammu, DIG (Ops) Jammu North, GC Bantalab, 6, 84, 20, 22 and 163 Bns, AWS and FWS in addition to operational responsibility of Jammu Region w.e.f. 03/11/1998. On restructuring of the Force, this Ops sector has been converted into Adm. Sector vide MHA order No. O.IV-10/2002-Org/MHA/PF-II dated 14/09/2004.
