CIAT-3 is located at Kalikiri, Chittoor District of Andhra Pradesh. Traditionally local folklore dictates the name "Kalikiri" originates from two dancing sisters, Kalki and Kulki, who were given the land by the local ruler. Kalikiri is a town with a population of around 25,000(at GR- 13040’42.60” N, 78048’51”14E) in the Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. The culture of Kalikiri is a mixture of Rayalaseema and Dravidian cultures. The town is famous for its tomato market, which supplies tomatoes to other districts in Andhra Pradesh and other states, like Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

How to reach

ØApproach road: The Kalikiri is well connected by road with regular bus service from Tirupati(81Kms), Chittoor(80 Kms) and Renigunta (90Kms). It is also having good road transport connectively between Kalikiri - Bengaluru (Approx180 Kms) and Kalikiri – Chennai (Approx210 Kms)

ØRailway Station:The nearest main rail heads are Tirupati and Renigunta which are at a distance of 75 Kms and 90Kms respectively, for the trainees coming from North India and Chittoor (80 Kms) and Katpadi (110 Kms) for trainees coming from South India. Kalikari has also got its own railway station but with limited train service.

Climate:

Kalikiri has pleasantly mild and warm weather with average temperatures of 30 to 35 degrees Celsius ( 86 Fto 95 f) and winter are sweet cold with moderate temperature between 15 to 25 degrees Celsius.Usually summer lasts from March to September, with the advent of rainy season in June, followed by sweet winter which lasts till the end of February.

Camp:

The campus of CIAT school Chittoor having hilly/ Rocky terrain and having thorn scrub forest. Camp is located about distance of 5 kmfrom Railway Station Kalikiri, Bus Station, Hospital and Local Market. The campus of ITBP and BSF are also located adjacent to this campus.

History:

Initially this institution was raised on 15/09/2014 at Group Centre, CRPF Avadi Campus Chennai (T.N.) and shifted temporarily from GC Avadi to Ambikapur (C.G.) in August 2015 to imparted Training. Institution functioned at Ambikapur up to May 2017 and finally shifted from Ambikapur to Kalikiri, Chittoor (AP) and started functioning at Kalikiriwef 11/5/2017.
